Dream catchers filled with colour and children’s dreams

On 7 July 2026, creative workshops for children were held at the INTEURO InfoPoint in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski. The participants made colourful dream catchers by hand and learned about the legend of their origin and the symbolic meaning of the hoop, web and feathers.

Dreams, creativity and a touch of magic accompanied another workshop for children held at the INTEURO InfoPoint in Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski. This time, the participants created their own unique dream catchers.

Each child could choose their own colours, materials and decorations, and then prepare a piece based on their individual idea. The result was a collection of unique compositions filled with colour, interesting details and children’s imagination.

Making the dream catchers required concentration, patience and precision, but it also brought a great deal of joy. The children were happy to help one another, share ideas and watch with interest as their own decorations emerged from the individual elements.

The legend hidden in a dream catcher

The workshop was accompanied by a story about the legend associated with the origin of dream catchers. The children learned why they had long been given special significance and where the belief came from that they protect a sleeping person from bad dreams.

The participants also discovered the symbolism of the individual elements of this unusual amulet. The hoop, web and feathers were not merely decorations — each of them had its own meaning and was connected with a story about protection, positive thoughts and peaceful sleep.

According to the legend, the web was meant to trap bad dreams, while good ones could pass freely through its centre and reach the sleeping person. The story attracted great interest and inspired a conversation about dreams, imagination and symbols present in different cultures.

A unique keepsake made by hand

The meeting combined creative work, discovering interesting stories and having fun together. Every dream catcher was different because it reflected the imagination, sensitivity and creativity of its young maker.

At the end of the workshop, each child took home the piece they had made themselves. The colourful dream catcher became not only a special keepsake from the workshop, but also a symbol of beautiful dreams and developing creativity.

We would like to thank all the children for their involvement, patience and wonderful ideas. Creating together once again showed that art activities can develop imagination, support integration and encourage openness to different traditions at the same time.
